SYCAMORE – Opening a boutique of her own has been a dream of Elizabeth Oparyk’s for some time, but it was a recent trip to Puerto Rico that solidified her decision to finally get her business up and running.

“I met someone else down there who also had a boutique,” Oparyk said. “She was operating out of her home, and she was moving into a storefront finally. I said, ‘see, I can do that.’”

Oparyk operates Lizzy’s Pink Boutique out of her home, 367 E. Ottawa St., Sycamore, Tuesday through Saturday by appointment only. What began as private Mary Kay parties now can include a full afternoon of shopping and accessorizing, Oparyk said.

“I’ve been in Mary Kay for 15 years,” she said. “It just kind of evolved into, ‘OK, well, I want to offer more for women.’”

Oparyk has partnered with Shanore Celtic Jewelry to sell silver-dipped pewter necklaces, bracelets and rings in her shop. The boutique is stocked with anywhere between 250 to 400 clothing items and accessories each day, she said.

Lizzy’s Pink Boutique carries designer clothing from New York, South Carolina, Dallas, Atlanta and California – and if Oparyk doesn’t have something, she’ll order it.

“Our goal since opening is just to raise the bar and set ourselves apart from all other boutiques,” Oparyk said. “It’s not just enough for us to have a great collection of clothing, accessories and beauty products. We just want to provide you with the ultimate fashion outing.”

Shoppers should call Oparyk before stopping by to ensure she can provide individual attention to her customers.

“I’d really like to know when they’re coming just so I can give them that one-on-one and put outfits together for them, because that’s really what they want,” she said.

Eventually, Oparyk and her husband, Andy Oparyk, would like to move the boutique into a storefront in downtown Sycamore.

“It started with one rack, believe it or not, and quickly by the end of that week, I went to two racks,” she said. “Then I went to three racks and two weeks ago I ordered my fourth rack and if I could fit two more in here, or three more in here I would do it.”
